Naproxen prescription online

Naproxen is a widely used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps relieve pain, inflammation, and fever. It’s commonly prescribed for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, menstrual cramps, tendonitis, headache, toothache and acute musculoskeletal pain.

If you’re experiencing ongoing pain or inflammation that’s not adequately controlled by over-the-counter (OTC) medication, you may benefit from prescription-strength naproxen. After a virtual consultation on Klarity Health, a licensed provider can evaluate your symptoms and determine whether Naproxen online prescription is appropriate for you.

About naproxen

What is naproxen?
Naproxen is an NSAID used to treat a wide range of pain and inflammatory conditions. It’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved for both prescription and OTC use. OTC naproxen (220 milligrams (mg)) is sold under the brand name Aleve, while prescription strengths include 250-mg, 375-mg, and 500-mg tablets. There are also extended-release and sodium formulations (naproxen sodium) that work faster.

Naproxen is effective for:
• Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
• Menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)
• Tendonitis and bursitis
• Acute injuries like sprains and strains
• Chronic back or neck pain
• Gout flares and mild to moderate pain
• Chronic migraines (off-label use)

It works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which play a role in producing prostaglandins, chemicals that trigger inflammation and pain. Naproxen is generally preferred for patients needing longer-lasting relief, since it has a half-life of up to 12 to 17 hours, allowing for dosing every 8 to 12 hours, not to exceed two doses in 8 to 12 hours or 3 doses in 24 hours.

Unlike acetaminophen, which only reduces pain and fever, naproxen actively reduces inflammation at the source. It’s important to take it with food to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal (GI) side effects.

How to get a naproxen online prescription

Naproxen is available in prescription strength for people who need stronger or more sustained pain relief than what OTC Aleve offers. Through telehealth, you can access care quickly and discreetly from the comfort of your home.

Steps to get naproxen online:

  • Choose a licensed provider on Klarity Health that offers pain management or primary care services.
  • Meet with a licensed provider via secure video or phone consultation.
  • Discuss your treatment needs and any prior responses to OTC medications.
  • Receive a prescription if naproxen is deemed appropriate.
  • Pick up your prescription at a local pharmacy or through mail-order.
  • Schedule follow-ups if pain persists or if long-term use is anticipated.

Your provider may also recommend lifestyle modifications, physical therapy, or alternate treatments if naproxen alone isn’t sufficient. It’s important to follow dosing instructions closely to avoid side effects.

How does naproxen compare to other medications?

Naproxen is one of the most widely used NSAIDs due to its longer half-life, allowing for less frequent dosing. It’s often compared to other pain relievers based on effectiveness, side effects, and duration of action.

Naproxen vs other pain medications:

  • Ibuprofen: Shorter duration (4 to 6 hours); may be gentler on the stomach at low doses
  • Acetaminophen: Lacks anti-inflammatory properties; better for fever or non-inflammatory pain; lower risk of GI adverse events compared to naproxen.
  • Celecoxib (Celebrex): COX-2 selective NSAID; lower risk of GI issues but more expensive
  • Diclofenac: Similar potency; often used for arthritis; may have higher cardiovascular risk
  • Aspirin: Less commonly used for pain; mainly used for heart protection

Why choose naproxen?

  • Longer dosing interval (every 8 to 12 hours)
  • Strong anti-inflammatory action
  • Available in extended-release forms
  • Cost-effective and widely available
  • Suitable for both acute and chronic pain
