About EpiPen

About EpiPen

What is EpiPen?
EpiPen is a prescription medication that was U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved in 1987 to treat anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis is a potentially life-threatening and severe allergic reaction that can happen within minutes or even seconds of exposure to something you have an allergy to, including bee stings or peanuts. Anaphylaxis causes your immune system to release several chemicals that can cause you to go into anaphylactic shock. When you go into shock, your blood pressure suddenly drops and your airways narrow, making it difficult or even impossible to breathe. The symptoms of anaphylaxis include nausea, vomiting, a skin rash, and a rapid, weak pulse.

EpiPen can also be used off-label to treat acute symptomatic bradyarrhythmia and upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Acute symptomatic bradyarrhythmia is a medical condition where your heart rate is slower than normal, meaning your heart doesn’t pump oxygen and blood to your brain as quickly. This condition can cause symptoms, including shortness of breath, dizziness, and fatigue.

EpiPen is in a medication class called alpha- and beta-adrenergic agonists, also known as sympathomimetic agents. Sympathomimetic agents have a large range of uses, including critical care, coughs, and colds. Other sympathomimetic agent examples include Ritalin (methylphenidate), Sudafed (pseudoephedrine), and Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine).

How to get an EpiPen prescription online?

With Klarity Health, getting an EpiPen prescription online is fast, simple, and convenient. You can simply connect with a board-certified healthcare provider from your own home and get an EpiPen prescription in as little as 24 hours if the healthcare provider finds it’s medically appropriate for you.* Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1: Go to Klarity Health’s home page and choose a specific time to meet with a board-certified, licensed healthcare provider virtually.
  • Step 2: During your appointment with your provider, they can evaluate whether EpiPen is appropriate for you, based on your symptoms and medical history.
  • Step 3: If approved, your EpiPen prescription will be sent to your preferred online or local pharmacy electronically, often on the same day.

EpiPen is a prescription-only medication, meaning it’s not legally available over the counter in the U.S. and you can only get it with a prescription from a healthcare provider. The Klarity Health platform connects you with board-certified healthcare providers who follow clinical guidelines to make sure EpiPen is used safely.

Your licensed healthcare provider can recommend an alternative medication or treatment if EpiPen isn’t right for your symptoms or medical situation. Online platforms like Klarity Health help provide you with easy access to trusted medications without the need to leave your home.
