Humana coverage for anxiety care in California in 2026 is usually a Medicare Advantage question, not a commercial PPO question. Humana exited most commercial group medical markets. Benefits typically follow CMS rules, the Humana Pharmacy Solutions (HPS) Part D formulary, and prior authorization. California SB 855 does not rewrite Medicare Advantage. Always verify your own Evidence of Coverage before you book.

Often, some of it, with caveats, if you have a Humana Medicare Advantage plan that includes Part B medical visits and Part D drugs. Evaluation, follow-up, and medication management may process when the visit is medically necessary, the clinician is in network (or you use plan-allowed telehealth), and any medication clears the HPS list or prior authorization. Copays, deductibles, and whether Klarity is in network still sit in your Evidence of Coverage and provider directory.
If you only have a leftover Humana commercial card from a prior employer year, confirm the carrier. Many California workers now have Anthem, Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare for medical benefits. Two layers matter in 2026 for commercial mental health. They usually do not write your Humana MA file:
Medicare Advantage is a federal product. CMS 42 CFR Part 422, the plan’s Evidence of Coverage, and National/Local Coverage rules govern MA, not SB 855. If Humana denies a benzodiazepine as not meeting Part D criteria, that is usually a formulary or PA issue, not a CDI SB 855 complaint. Keep those buckets separate when you appeal. Medicare managed-care appeals sit under CMS MA appeals rules.
California Insurance Code § 10123.85 addresses telehealth on many fully insured commercial plans. That statute does not bind Medicare Advantage the same way. Humana MA plans still often cover video visits when the plan treats the service as covered in person and the clinician meets CMS and plan telehealth rules. Original Medicare telehealth rules are summarized at Medicare.gov telehealth; MA plans set their own networks and copays.
Klarity providers licensed in California can evaluate anxiety by video when clinically appropriate. Same-day appointments are often available. Coverage still depends on network status and cost share.
Federal controlled-substance telemedicine rules remain a separate overlay. HHS and DEA have extended certain telemedicine flexibilities through December 31, 2026. First-line SSRIs and SNRIs (sertraline, escitalopram, venlafaxine, duloxetine) are typically not scheduled. Benzodiazepines such as alprazolam, clonazepam, and lorazepam are Schedule IV. Buspirone and hydroxyzine are generally not scheduled. Your clinician still must follow DEA, California prescriber, and plan rules. See DEA guidance and Humana’s pharmacy PA page at Humana prior authorization.
Humana Medicare drug lists live at humana.com/pharmacy/medicare-drug-list. Providers also use Humana provider drug lists. Many generic SSRIs sit on preferred Part D tiers. Brand-only products, some SNRIs, and benzodiazepines can carry higher copays, quantity limits, or PA through Humana Clinical Pharmacy Review (HCPR).
Do not mix this with Cigna Express Scripts Policy IP0477 (stimulant PA on many Cigna commercial lists) or with CVS/Caremark’s 2025-2026 Zepbound timeline. Those are other insurers and other drug classes. Humana MA pharmacy is HPS, not Carelon Rx, OptumRx, or ESI.
Therapy (CBT, exposure work) often bills as a medical/behavioral visit under Part C, not Part D. Confirm whether your MA plan uses a behavioral health vendor and whether video visits count as in-network.

A licensed clinician reviews symptoms, history, current medications, and safety. They may recommend therapy, an SSRI/SNRI, a short-term adjunct, or a combination. They do not promise that Humana will pay. If a controlled medication is clinically appropriate, they follow DEA and California rules. Klarity’s network includes 2,000+ licensed providers. Same-day visits are often available.
Humana largely exited commercial group medical. Most California Humana cards you see in 2026 are Medicare Advantage. Confirm on your ID card and Evidence of Coverage.
Usually no, if you have Medicare Advantage. SB 855 targets many commercial and DMHC products. MA follows CMS and the plan formulary.
Some benzos appear on Part D lists with limits. Coverage is not automatic. Quantity limits and PA are common because these drugs are Schedule IV.
No. IP0477 is a Cigna/ESI stimulant prior-authorization policy. Humana uses HPS and HCPR.
Start with the plan’s reconsideration process in your Evidence of Coverage. After that, CMS Independent Review Entity (Maximus) is often 1-855-887-6668. CDI and DMHC are the wrong doors for most MA disputes.
Medi-Cal rules differ. This page describes typical Humana MA, not California Medicaid. Verify with your Medi-Cal managed-care plan.
