Humana products in Florida may cover medically necessary ADHD evaluation, follow-up, and some ADHD medications when the visit is in network and allowed on your medical policy and Humana Pharmacy Solutions (HPS) list. Coverage is not automatic. Many Humana lives in Florida sit on Medicare Advantage, not a large commercial PPO. Federal CMS rules at 42 CFR Part 422 plus MHPAEA (where it applies) set floors. Fla. Stat. § 627.668 is a mental-health make-available rule for many fully insured Florida policies. It does not rewrite Medicare Advantage formularies or force every stimulant onto a preferred tier. Always verify your own benefits before you book.

TLDR

  • Humana may cover medically necessary ADHD visits and some ADHD drugs in Florida. Benefits vary by Medicare Advantage (common), employer wrap products, and Medicaid managed care. Treat commercial “Humana PPO” assumptions with caution after Humana’s commercial exit in many markets.
  • Medicare Advantage follows CMS 42 CFR Part 422 and the Evidence of Coverage, not Fla. Stat. § 627.668 as the payment rule. § 627.668 is optional/make-available mental health coverage on many fully insured Florida policies. It is not a stimulant mandate.
  • Florida Statutes § 456.47 governs telehealth practice. It does not force Humana to pay every video visit.
  • Pharmacy benefits on many Humana MA plans run through Humana Pharmacy Solutions (HPS). Stimulants typically need prior authorization. Do not copy CVS/Caremark Zepbound dates (Aetna) or Cigna PA Policy IP0477 onto a Humana ADHD card. IP0477 is a Cigna/ESI stimulant PA policy (often effective May 15, 2026 on Cigna lists).
  • Most ADHD stimulants are Schedule II. HHS/DEA telemedicine flexibilities for prescribing many controlled medications currently run through December 31, 2026. Florida PDMP (E-FORCSE) review may still apply.
  • Medicare GLP-1 Bridge ($50/month Wegovy/Zepbound/Foundayo via CMS, starting July 1, 2026) is a Medicare obesity program. It does not pay for ADHD stimulants.
  • AHCA/Medicaid and dual-eligible products follow Florida Medicaid rules, not this MA-focused page.
  • Verify benefits on Humana member tools and HPS. For many fully insured Florida complaints, Florida DFS Division of Consumer Services / FLOIR consumer help is often 1-877-693-5236 (1-877-MY-FL-CFO). Medicare Advantage appeals follow CMS, then often Maximus IRE at 1-855-887-6668. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.

Does Humana cover ADHD treatment in Florida?

Often, some of it, with caveats. Evaluation visits and medication management may process as medical benefits on many Humana Medicare Advantage plans in Florida when the visit is medically necessary and in network. Medication is a separate Part D / HPS question. Copays, deductibles, step therapy, quantity limits, and whether Klarity is in network still sit in your Evidence of Coverage and HPS drug list.

Self-funded ERISA employer plans (if any remain under a Humana administrative wrapper) follow federal rules and the plan document more than § 627.668. Medicaid and dual-eligible products follow CMS and Florida Medicaid. Always treat this page as education, not a coverage determination.

Do not mix Humana with Florida Blue, Anthem, Aetna, or Cigna. Related Florida guides: Aetna Florida ADHD, Cigna Florida ADHD, and Anthem Florida ADHD.

Check if your plan may cover an ADHD visit.

How common is ADHD?

According to the NIMH ADHD statistics page, the estimated lifetime prevalence of ADHD in U.S. adults aged 18 to 44 years was 8.1%. The CDC reports an estimated 7 million (11.7%) U.S. children aged 3-17 years have current ADHD.

Those figures describe national epidemiology. They do not decide whether your Humana Florida plan pays for a video visit or a brand-name stimulant.

Parity in Florida: what § 627.668 does and does not do on Humana

Three layers matter in 2026:

  1. CMS 42 CFR Part 422 for Medicare Advantage. MA organizations must meet CMS network, coverage, and appeal rules. Florida DFS does not replace CMS on MAPD complaints.
  2. Federal MHPAEA for many commercial group and individual plans that cover mental health. It generally bars more restrictive financial requirements or treatment limitations than medical/surgical care in the same classification, when the law applies. MA products follow CMS, not a state MHPAEA rewrite.
  3. Fla. Stat. § 627.668 addresses optional/make-available coverage for mental and nervous disorders on many fully insured policies written in Florida. See the statute on Online Sunshine. It is a make-available mental health rule, not a mandate that Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, or Strattera appear on a preferred HPS tier.

Florida telehealth practice sits in Fla. Stat. § 456.47. Licensure and standard of care are not the same as payment.

HPS, stimulants, and policies you should not mix

Humana MA pharmacy typically runs through HPS. Stimulants often need PA, step therapy, and quantity limits. Your NDC may sit on a non-preferred tier even when the class is covered.

Cigna PA Policy IP0477 (stimulant PA on many Cigna commercial lists) is not a Humana policy. Caremark’s Zepbound removal (July 1, 2025) and planned reinstatement (October 1, 2026) describe many Aetna/CVS lists. They do not decide Humana ADHD coverage.

Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is an obesity CMS program. It does not substitute for ADHD pharmacy benefits.

Schedule II, telehealth, and Florida PDMP

Most first-line ADHD stimulants are Schedule II. Non-stimulants such as atomoxetine are typically unscheduled. HHS/DEA telemedicine flexibilities for many controlled prescriptions currently run through December 31, 2026. Florida E-FORCSE PDMP review may still apply. A video visit does not guarantee a stimulant fill at a Florida pharmacy.

How to verify Humana ADHD benefits in Florida

  1. Confirm product type: Medicare Advantage vs Medicaid vs any remaining commercial wrap.
  2. Ask whether Klarity or the treating clinician is in network for behavioral health or medical visits.
  3. Ask HPS whether your stimulant or non-stimulant needs PA, step therapy, or a quantity limit.
  4. Ask about telehealth payment under § 456.47 vs the Evidence of Coverage.
  5. If the plan is fully insured commercial and you hit a stall, Florida DFS Division of Consumer Services is often 1-877-693-5236. MAPD appeals stay with CMS, then often Maximus IRE at 1-855-887-6668.

Verify your benefits and see if you may qualify.
